TRIODEFET | CLASS A | 200W MONOBLOCK POWER AMPLIFIER
We proudly present Ianus Vulcan - the fifth amplifier in the Ianus Series
“The Ianus Vulcan is an excersise to bring the incredible sound of the TriodeFet to systems using less efficient speaker. The Vulcan is loosely based on Geminae amplifiers, but with quite a few tricks to bring size and relative cost down. We believe that our Vulcan will by a loyal workhorse to our TriodeFet range of amplifiers”

DESIGNER

The Design Concept
The Vulcan Monoblock amplifiers are based on the principles of the bigger brother, the Geminae. It uses our trusted TriodeFet technology, but contrary to our Single Ended /Single stage lineup, it uses our proprietary floating circlotron technology.
While the Geminae uses OTL /capacitive decoupling to float the circlotron, the Vulcan uses a specially designed 1:1 bifilar transformer to float the stage.
Biased heavily in Class A, it stays in Class A envelope up to ~150W (8 ohms) and continues to AB envelope to it’s full power up to circa 200W.
The input stage is another differentiator factor between the Geminae. While the bigger model uses a dual Single Ended Triode stage working in opposite phase, the Vulcan uses a single SET stage parefeed coupled to a specially designed balancer interstage transformer which drives the circlotron.
Class A operation envelope up to 150W
System flexibility
The Vulcan comes in two gain versions, a 26db and 32db versions, for maximum flexibility in multiple system setups.

The Design Implementation
The Vulcan power sections are fed by two toroidal transformers, one feeding the high voltage driver/TriodeFet circuits, while the other feeding the high current section. Both sections are choke filtered and tuned for minimum overshoot and sagging.
The input stage is a simple SET design which para-feeds a specially designed interstage transformer. The secondaries of this interstage transformer directly modulate the bias sections of the dual TriodeFet circuit that constitute the circlotron, providing true floating operation.
The way the circlotron operates in combination with the specially wound output transformer, gives the Vulcan the technical and sonic characteristics of a Single Ended design, with it’s subsequent virtues in sound quality.
Each of the banks of the circlotron as well as the input stage can be independently adjusted for bias, alternating the sonic characteristics of the amplifier, and fully adjusting the amplifier to taste and the rest of the system.
The output transformer is a massive 20kg bifilar wounnd transformer, which provides ultra wide bandwidth at full power.
The Vulcan mirrors the strengths of a SOTA Single Ended tube amplifier, with unparalled driving capabilities
Triode or solid state?
The triode-like transfer curves of the next Generation TriodeFet used in the Vulcan elevates the performance of the new Ianus amplifier to surpass the the very best Single Ended tube amplifiers. The superb midrange , treble, accurate timbre and immersive soundstage that we expect from big bottle tube amplification are taken to another level..
As with all the Ianus Series amplifiers, it is also able to deliver more current than their tube counterparts, and are essentially maintenance free as the internal tubes used for curve creation are rated at 10,000 hours lifespan. Its unique design ensurers it is as sonically transparent as it can get. The amplifier power delivery is 150W (8ohm) full class A and >200W in AB.
